APPEARANCE

To start it off, Neji has rather long hair and is small for a male. His hair falls to barely above his waist and his bangs rest near his shoulders and frame his face, making it look even more soft than it is. It's also so dark brown that it almost looks black (think coffee). He's only 5'6" in height and weighs about a hundred and ten pounds, but this is one short person you don't want to mess with.

He's rather pale skinned and `gentle` looking, though his eyes are probably the most striking thing about him. They're odd in color, usually a very pale lavender, though they have been known to change colors from almost completely white to storm-cloud gray. As thin as he may seem, Neji is still slightly toned with muscle in his arms and legs, though he's obviously rather skinny in the waist and all.

He's taken to wearing his hair down lately around his headbands, though some people may see it when it's up in a high or low ponytail, depending on what he feels like doing with it. When he isn't working, he's wearing the usual normal clothes like jeans, whatever shirt, etc.

PERSONALITY

To put it easily, Neji's personality is rather . . repressed. He doesn't exactly show much emotion, but it's most likely hidden somewhere in all that seriousness.

He's almost always got a straight look on his face and a serious look in his eyes. It takes him a while to loosen up, though he can relax. Sometimes. When he isn't doing his job, he's probably off doing his smiling alone, where no one can see. He is very loyal to his friends and will do anything to protect them, even if it means sacrificing himself to do so.

HISTORY

Neji was born to Hyuuga Hizashi on the third of July, twin brother to Hyuuga Hiashi, who was the `higher` of the two sons. Since Hizashi was the younger brother by two seconds, he and his family had been forced into serving and protecting the Head Family. It's what they were always taught when they were young and Neji grew up thinking that it didn't seem fair, but he never once complained, until that certain day . . .

It had been four years since Neji's birth, only months after Neji had been branded with the Main Family's marking on his forehead to make sure he would stay a subordinate. Well, Hizashi wanted better for his son, for he knew that the boy was a prodigy and had so much natural talent that wouldn't be used because he would live to serve the Main House. Meanwhile, the rival family that the Hyuugas had made a pact with ended up sending a spy to kidnap Neji's cousin, or Hiashi's child, for a ransom. Hiashi ended up following the kidnapper and killing him, saving his child from the rival family, though he was not out of trouble just yet. The rival family wanted Hiashi dead for his actions, but instead, Hizashi ended up taking his place, saying that he would rather willingly sacrifice himself than see his brother gunned down for protecting his heir.

With the death of his only parent, Neji began to believe that the Main House had made his father sacrifice himself and began to believe that his fate was to serve the Head Family for the rest of his life.

Through the years, the natural genius took up taijutsu, ninjutsu, and sword fighting, preferring to use his hands instead of swords or guns, though he was still taught in those ways, just in case. Over time, he began to perfect a technique called Hakke Rokujuyon Sho or the Sixty-Four Palms technique; which was where Neji could strike his opponent so quickly, that he can get in sixty-four hits before perhaps following through with a finishing move.

A certain day came (when Neji was about twelve) when he ended up getting into a rather large fight with the Head family, once challenging Hiashi's heir to a fight and successfully mortally wounding them. Though, before he could finish them off, other branch members stopped him just in time. A few months passed since the fight and one day, Neji had been wandering the Red District of town (where the Head family lived), only to run into the one that people were calling `Naruto the Maelstrom` or Uzumaki Naruto.

The two talked for some time and eventually, the one named Naruto brought up something he had heard about Neji, which ended up being the fight with the cousin only months ago. Neji merely told him it was none of his business, to which Naruto replied with `Yeah, it was pretty crappy.` and that set the prodigy off.

They fought for a long while and it seemed Neji had won, but when he was going to check the other male, Naruto suddenly sprung to his feet and pretty much laid the boy out. The Hyuuga laid out on the concrete, suddenly wondering what he had been working for all those years. This person had caught him offguard and if that had happened when he was attempting to protect the Main Family . . .

Strangely, Naruto went and helped him, which Neji thought was odd, but he accepted it for once. The `Maelstrom` began to explain to him why he had been able to defeat him, but the thing that caught him more offguard was when Naruto told him that he was `a better person and could change his destiny`. After they had talked about it for a long while, the two parted ways; Naruto to go back to his life of martial arts and Neji back to his of serving the Head Family.

Upon arriving at the house after that fight, he was confronted by Hiashi, who finally told him of his father's fate. Neji was shocked to hear that Hizashi had willingly sacrificed himself and broke down into tears, promising his deceased father that he wanted to change his fate for the better and that he believed he could do so.

The years passed on and Neji stayed with the Head Family, becoming one of their best protectors over that time and fixing the strained relationship. At the age of nineteen, he was offered a job in the Light District as an inspector and he gladly accepted, knowing that it would not please Hiashi too much, but before he left, he told his uncle that no matter what side he was on, he would protect the family.
